Wanting To Sell More Is Not Going To Help You Sell More!
Don’t worry. I understand why you want that. Every independent fashion designer wants to sell more and you might have been trying for at least three months to sell but can’t find enough people who will actually pay for your fashion products or garments.
But I’m going to ask you a question:
If you were an accessory designer selling £50 purses to gen Z direct to consumer and a futurist said to you “I’ve looked into your future and you are going to get one new sale in the next 90 days” would you be jumping up and down in excitement that you had made…. Erm, lets see 🤔 £3.33 a week.
But, if you were the designer of exclusive designer pieces selling wholesale at £1,000 to high end retailers such as Neiman Marcus who has 36 locations and would probably buy a significant number of each piece and that soothsayer or futurist said the same thing …. “I’ve looked into your future and you will get one new sale in the next 90 days would you be jumping for joy now! Yes!!! Of course you would because even if Neiman Marcus with their 36 stores placed just one order for only ten dresses over four sizes for, lets say…10 of their stores you could make £400,000!
So isn’t it more important to focus on the revenue you want to generate in your business, exactly how many pieces you need to sell to achieve that result and who you want to target to do that rather than focus on just “selling more”
Isn’t it more important to focus on the specific perfect customer who not only loves but who appreciates the workmanship and value of your designs, who understands the difference between what you do and fast high street fashion and is willing to pay high prices for your products.
And isn’t it more important to focus on how much your business is going to grow when you are reaching those PERFECT customers who tell all their friends about you instead of just willy nilly trying to sell to people who will never have any intention of buying from you.
What you probably haven’t realised is that slight change of focus can take a fashion designer from broke and struggling with failing collections to having the most amazing loyal customers buying your products and telling all their friends about how great your brand is.
If you really want to keep just trying to sell with no real focus you’re likely going to continue not seeing the results you want.
But if you’re the type of designer who wants to create inspiring collections that your PERFECT customer wants to buy so you can sell more product and make more profit then I want to help you create a roadmap to do that. All you have to do is email [email protected] with the word "SELLMORE".
